Thomas edison tried thousand special substances on the lookout for a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, “all our work is in useless. We have discovered not anything.”
Edison spoke back very hopefully, “oh, we've come a long manner and we have learned a lot. We recognise that there are two thousand factors which we can not use to make a very good light bulb.”
